Bill Hader met Rachel Bilson while working on The To-Do List, directed by Hader’s ex-wife Maggie Carey. While he was still married to Carey, Bilson did leave an imprint on the comedian’s mind. He divorced his director wife in 2018, parting ways on amicable terms.
The year 2019 came as a surprise for fans when Bill Hader and Rachel Bilson officially announced that the two were dating. The stars even made a gorgeous red carpet debut at the 2020 Golden Globe Awards. While the two were inseparable, the irony of it is that Hader and Bilson parted ways during the height of the pandemic.
Bill Hader left Rachel Bilson for Anna Kendrick during an episode of Broad Ideas, The Last Kiss star opened up about her heartbreak and the challenges she faced to cope with it during the pandemic. Even though she didn’t mention Hader, the actress expressed that the breakup hit her “harder than childbirth”, and said:
“I could not leave my house, you know what I mean? I had nothing else to do but sit in it, and deal with it and feel it. It was probably the hardest thing I’ve ever done, harder than childbirth.”
Bilson added,
“If you actually face it, you can come out of it and be like, ‘OK, I did that and I’m ready for the next thing.’”
Though it wasn’t officially reported, the word of mouth goes that Hader fell head over heels for Oscar-nominee Anna Kendrick, and broke up with Rachel Bilson. Well, the comedian fell in love with Kendrick in a fairly similar way as he met Bilson, but the two remained hush-hush about their relationship.

Bill Hader has a pretty consistent way of finding love. Like he struck his eyes on Rachel Bilson while being married to Maggie Carey, the 44-year-old actor developed a connection with Anna Kendrick while being in a relationship with Rachel Bilson.
Bill Hader and the Pitch Perfect actress co-starred in the 2019 Christmas movie, Noelle. The two, however, began dating somewhere in 2020. A source previously revealed that the couple shared great chemistry. Another source added:
“They are both very private people and with the pandemic, it was easy to keep it quiet. They’re both hysterical so they must keep each other laughing all of the time. She’s really, really happy.”
While Bilson struggled with heartbreak during the pandemic, Kendrick and Hader were able to maintain discretion whilst the new-found infatuation developed. Their short-lived romance ended in June 2022. Hader then went on to date Ali Wong.
Hader previously revealed he remains quiet about his dating life to protect the privacy of his children. The actor shares three daughters with his ex-wife, Maggie Carey. Rachel Bilson, on the other hand, was engaged to Hayden Christensen from 2008 to 2017 and shares a daughter with him.
