Matt Damon Once Spent $3,500 To Impress Christopher Walken

According to Anthony Mackie, a mutual friend of Matt Damon and Christopher Walken, Damon went to great lengths to impress Walken at a house party. Mackie disclosed that Damon splurged a staggering $3,500 (£2,500) on an exclusive case of red wine. The motive behind Damon’s extravagant purchase was his eagerness to spend time with Walken after learning that Mackie was collaborating with the Hollywood legend on the Broadway play A Behanding in Spokane in 2010.

Christopher Walken

“We’re doing Behanding in Spokane, and Matt Damon is like, ‘Yo, you’re doing a show with Chris Walken, you’ve gotta bring him to my house. I’m inviting a bunch of people to my house, I’ll send you a car. You’ve got to get Chris Walken in the car and bring him to my place,'” Mackie recalled.

During an episode of the Life is Short podcast hosted by Justin Long, Anthony Mackie mentioned that it occurred during a significant sporting event, possibly a championship American football game or a major fight.

“I’m talking to Chris all through the show, so when the show wraps, I’m like, ‘Yo, Chris, my man Matt’s having a little get-together at his spot. You wanna go?’ He’s like, ‘Yeah, I’ll go, I’ll go. I’m not doing anything.’ I was, ‘Alright. What do you drink?’ He’s like, ‘Tell him I drink Opus One’ – it’s this red wine blend from Napa, it’s like $500 a bottle!”

However, an unexpected hurdle arose during the transaction: Damon lacked proper identification when he attempted to pay the substantial sum of $3,500 via check.

As he hoped, Christopher Walken made an appearance at the party accompanied by Mackie, resulting in a memorable and noteworthy event. The gathering proved to be a special occasion that left a lasting impression on all those in attendance.

“Oh man, it was a night of all nights. It was hilarious,” Mackie said. “If you have red wine, he’s there chilling all night! It was the funniest.”

The Adjustment Bureau is available for rent on Apple TV.
