Amber Midthunder widely gained criticism for her portrayal of Naru, a young Comanche warrior who protects her people against a Predator in Dan Trachtenberg’s Prey film. While the lady mesmerized the fans with her formidable charm, not many saw her character as a potential warrior to defeat the human-hunting Predator.
Recently, the Internet has resurfaced the dispute over Naru’s battle with Predator. Despite the outcome, many are unsatisfied with the fight especially due to Midthunder’s character.

In the Predator franchise prequel Prey, Amber Midthunder‘s character, Naru is an indigenous woman who supports her Comanche tribe through her healing skills. But she wants to become a warrior like her brother Taabe played by Dakota Beavers.
One day, she notices a strange object in the sky, which turned out to be a Predator ship. Given that Naru is small and weak by her physique, it would be difficult for her to take down a giant human-hunting alien equipped with advanced technology. However, the creators shaped her overall characteristics making her strong enough to face off the alien.
Instead of going straightaway into battle, she observed the Predator and planned a strategy by using every skill to deal with it. Patience and her wit were the core skills that helped her win the difficult battle which eventually ended the vicious creature and saved her tribe. To honor her victory, she gets declared as the new War Chief.
While the film garnered positive reviews from film critics, trolls complained about the Naru-Predator face-off as they couldn’t accept a weak character defeating a formidable enemy. However, online commentators came to defend the concept.
Internet Supports Naru Defeating The Predator in Final Battle!
Naru is a woman of weak constitution however, it doesn’t change the fact that she is well aware of hunting and survival due to her all-time experience of living in harsh conditions. Online commentators went to support the concept of how the creators did their best to perfectly execute the idea of the indigenous lady facing off against a vicious alien.
They took to Twitter to share their support for the film and Midthunder’s character.
“The whole criticism about naru managing to defeat the predator is so stupid because her size or strength is always the main complaint when neither really played into her winning. It was a hunting ground and she outsmarted him.”
