The next Star Wars film directed by Dave Filoni is based on The Mandalorian and will feature some of the same characters. Filoni, who has worked on a plethora of franchise’s animated series, has kept the details about his upcoming movie under wraps.
Timothy Olyphant, who played the role of Cobb Vanth in the second season of The Mandalorian, is quite keen on his possible return to Star Wars, even if it’s just for a cameo. At this point, it is unclear if Olyphant has a future in the film, but people would love to see if Cobb Vanth can return to any future Star Wars project.
Is Timothy Olyphant going to be in the next Star Wars movie?
Timothy Olyphant shared his keenness to return for the next Star Wars project during his appearance on The Playlist’s Bingeworthy podcast.
On being asked if Olyphant got any calls from the filmmaker Dave Filoni about his return, the actor said humorously, “If I had talks with Filoni, I wouldn’t tell you.”
Showing his willingness to return, even if it is for a cameo, Olyphant said, “It was a ball working on those things, and those guys know if they call me, I’d show up. I don’t care if it’s a big, giant thing or just to show up for an afternoon. It’s a fun gig.”
The star went on to say how lucky he feels to be able to wear Boba Fett’s armor, even if only for a short time. He’s pleased that, after only two episodes, his role has been favorably accepted by viewers.
Timothy Olyphant as Cobb Vanth
Timothy Olyphant portrayed the role of Cobb Vanth in The Mandalorian Season 2. He first appeared on the show when Din Djarin pursued him after discovering that the Marshal of Mos Pelgo had been using Boba Fett’s armor to protect himself.
Olyphant again appeared on the final episode of The Book of Boba Fett, the episode in which Cad Bane shoots his character. However, a post-credits scene shows that he survived the attack and is currently recovering in Boba Fett’s bacta tank.
Although his followers are eagerly awaiting his return, the producers are mum about the details of The Mandalorian’s future. There are reports that makers might turn The Mandalorian Season 4 into a movie.
Timothy Olyphant refused a role in the Fast and Furious franchise
Timothy Olyphant, who was a rising star back then, was the first choice to portray the role of Dominic Toretto back in the 2000s. However, the star has no regrets about turning down the role in the $7.3B Dwayne Johnson franchise.
While revealing the reason behind refusing to work in a massive franchise, Olyphant said he did not connect well with the script and found it boring. He said, “I just thought, well, this will just be stupid, and I thought no one is gonna wanna see this movie eight or nine different times. I mean, by the third or fourth sequel, people are gonna definitely get bored of it. Right?”
But to his surprise, the movie successfully spawned an enormous franchise and made millions for Vin Diesel.
