Not only that, as his movies gain a lot of attention, his co-stars also get a lot of fame and recognition for their roles.
During an interview with Esquire, the Spy actor claimed that working in the movie The Talented Mr. Ripley changed his life for the better forever. Law claimed that he gained immense fame and recognition from his portrayal of Dickie Greenleaf in the movie. He also added that the popularity was mostly because of the star cast of the film.
“Life-changing. Just in terms of the scale of the attention, the caliber of the people I was suddenly rubbing shoulders with in the business: Anthony had won nine Oscars, Matt had just won an Oscar, Gwyneth was about to, Cate Blanchett, Philip Seymour Hoffman.
All of them had a lot of attention and I was in with them. And it intensified the spotlight on me. Work-wise it was extraordinary: suddenly all these directors who you hope to work with one day are calling you because you’re the new person on the block. You’re fresh meat.”
Famous actors like Matt Damon, Gwyneth Paltrow, and many others were the main attraction. Jude Law just happened to be in the cast and just rode the bus to stardom. Although it was somewhat of a shortcut, the fact that Law acknowledges it proves its worth to have such a life in the industry.
