Revealing how horrified he was upon learning that he had to shoot explicit scenes with his younger sister, McAvoy framed it as the biggest challenge in his entire career.

Oftentimes Hollywood stars face bizarre scenes where they are forced out of their comfort zone to deliver a challenging project. However, nothing seems more horrific than James McAvoy’s 2013 movie Filth. Playing the role of a junkie cop in an Irvine Welsh film, the actor took on the most challenging role of violating his real-life younger sister.

Sitting for an interview with British GQ, James McAvoy discussed his best and most challenging roles of all time. That’s when he couldn’t avoid pointing out his 2013 movie featuring his sister, Joy McAvoy. Revealing how horrified he was to learn that his younger sister had been cast in Filth, as it contained certain explicit scenes, the actor broke down a particular scene from the movie.

Not even in his wildest dreams did James McAvoy ever think that he would have to s*xually harass his sister. But he certainly had to take on the challenging role for Irvine Welsh’s film Filth. Breaking down the scene, the Scottish actor mentioned feeling super weird to shoot the moment where he had to almost physically violate Joy McAvoy.

James McAvoy Had To Physically Violate His Sister For Filth 

Discussing his 2013 crime drama with British GQ, James McAvoy started by breaking down his puking scene, where he drank and ate too much to bring out the authenticity. “Some people will watch that and go, ‘yeah whatever, he puked’, and some people will watch it and go ‘Oh my god’. We wanted that whatever possible” the actor claimed.

Navigating further into the movie, James McAvoy began explaining the scene he had to do with his sister, Joy McAvoy. “The scene I got to shoot with my sister, Joy McAvoy, who is a brilliant actor…I had to kind of threaten her physically and kind of with some physical violence and a bit of s*xual violence” McAvoy stated. 

That’s my sister, so it was weird. But I don’t know, that’s just another challenge…it didn’t stop me being incredibly nasty to that particular actor, who happened to be my sister.”

The Atonement actor went on to share his experience of filming other spectacular movies. But before moving on to other films, James McAvoy made sure to let the world know how deeply he loves and appreciates his sister, who is one of his best pals.
