Life of Pi, an adventure drama starring Irrfan Khan, Suraj Sharma, Gautam Belur, and Tabu, was released on November 23, 2012. It was one of the most successful films of 2012. The film’s director, Ang Lee, was the brains behind it. The 68-year-old filmmaker’s film earned four Academy Awards, including best director for Lee. Tobey Maguire was also a part of the adventure movie but his scene was deleted by the Taiwanese director. When the Hulk Director was asked about why the Spiderman 2 actor’s scene was cut from the movie, the famous director had a reason for it. The Gemini Man director said,

“I love Tobey. But it’s a small part. So when it’s a movie star sitting there, it captures attention. It didn’t really work out.”

Fans of Maguire were disappointed when it was revealed that the Spiderman actor had been replaced by Rafe Spall. Maguire never commented on this matter and never publicly discussed his scene in Lee’s film.

During an interview, the 68-year-old filmmaker shared the difficult moments he came across when he was filming the movie. Lee also stated that the movie Life Of Pie was unfilmable because of the Tiger in the movie. While talking about the Tiger and how he had to work things around the animal, the Lust, Caution filmmaker said,

“You cannot make the tiger do everything you want to do, you have to use digital. A digital animal, up until two years ago, was not totally realistic yet, let alone in 3D, and then water is pretty difficult.”

When the Oscar-winning director was asked if this movie was one of the most difficult movies he has made, the filmmaker said,

“Oh yes. And it was also the longest…there was the technical difficulty and then it is a big movie. And it was across continents, I finally decided to shoot most of it in Taiwan, but we also had to go to India to shoot for two to three weeks. Because you can’t fake Pondicherry and Munnar. And then we have scenes in Canada.”
