"It did something to my soul": Paul Walker's Daughter Meadow's Cameo Was More Emotional For Fast X Star Vin Diesel and Michelle Rodriguez Than Fans Realise

Vin Diesel and Michelle Rodriguez are veterans of the Fast and Furious franchise, and over the years they have welcomed various cast members as well as bid goodbye to many. Out of all the goodbyes, the hardest must have been Paul Walker, after his untimely death.

Walker starred as Brian O’Conner in the first seven films of the racing franchise. The actor died in a car crash when he was 40 years old. Now, Fast X has introduced his daughter, Meadow Walker, to the franchise and the veteran stars are emotional after seeing the baton get passed from father to daughter.

Furious 7 (2015) was Paul Walker’s final appearance in the franchise. However, the actor passed away before completing the film. So the makers used Cody and Caleb Walker, his brothers, as body doubles to complete the shooting of the film. Since then, about 8 years have passed, and finally, his daughter, Meadow Walker, has entered the franchise to continue her father’s legacy.

In Fast X, Meadow Walker has a small cameo. She stars as a flight attendant who gives John Cena’s Jakob Toretto a couple of bottles of alcohol. Taking to Instagram, the actress said of the cameo:

“The first fast was released when I was one year old! I grew up on set watching my father, Vin, Jordana, Michelle, Chris, and more on the monitors. Thanks to my dad, I was born into the fast family. I can’t believe now I get to be up there too. With those who have been around to see me grow up.”

Apart from the 55-year-old actor, Michelle Rodriguez also chimed in to say that Meadow Walker’s cameo meant that Paul Walker would always live on. She said:

“It’s everything to us because [Paul’s] memory is never going to die within the franchise, so as long as we’re doing it, we have to maintain that, [keeping his] energy alive.”

While some viewers were upset after seeing the way-too-small cameo of Meadow Walker, others hoped that she can eventually take up a larger role in future films.

Fast X is now playing in theaters.
