Starfield players can find weapons with a wide range of abilities and perks that can inflict high amounts of damage but one player has found a rifle with potentially the highest amount of damage per bullet fired. In this article we are going to take a look at one Reddit users discovery of a potentially game changing weapon and more!
The Weapon in Question
Through Starfield’s loot system players can find a plethora of weapons ranging from ballistic to melee however one player has revealed a weapon that they have with thousands of damage points per bullet. Reddit user Morfalath has found that using a combo of both Instigating and Shattering traits give the Mammoth rifle a whopping 2797 damage per bullet fired.
With the Shattering trait allowing players to virtually ignore all armour types and Instigate allowing players to to inflict double damage to all targets with full health the Mammoth rifle allows Morfalath and other players lucky enough to find such a weapon to essentially fight their way through almost any foe. However it is worth noting that Starfield’s tooltips show a weapons values with situational buffs implemented, so for example the actual damage for the mammoth rifle in particular is 1398.

Lessons Learned from Previous Games
With Starfield Bethesda have taken all the feedback on gunplay and other weaponry from its previous shooter RPG titles Fallout 4 and Fallout 76 and applied it to the weapon system players will become accustomed to when playing Starfield. Many players have praised the game for its excellent gun combat and wide variety of perks and upgrades which make for a staple in most of not all RPG titles.
However one takeaway from Starfield’s fantastic gun combat is that there is less focus on the melee side of things, that’s not to say there isn’t any melee weapons available but when compared to Fallout 4 for example the options are significantly reduced which some fans looking for a real challenge may be disappointed with, however I’m sure those that go looking will be sure to find the challenges they seek regardless of their weapon choice.

Starfield’s Weapon Variety
As mentioned previously, Starfield features a wide array for ballistic weapons that players have been searching far and wide for but what the game seems to lack is melee and somewhat more importantly, laser weapons. As Starfield welcomes in its first full week since its worldwide release fans are hoping that Bethesda will add a wider range of weapons, specifically Laser based ones as they are synonymous with space and the Sci-Fi genre as a whole. However should Bethesda choose not to do this there is still a massive variety of ballistic weapons for players to hunt the galaxy for.
