The Wolverine actor, Hugh Jackman was making headlines for reviving his role as the Wolverine in the upcoming movie Deadpool 3. However recently he is once more in the news due to his separation from his wife, Deborra-Lee Furness, an Australian actor, after 27 years of marriage. 27 years of togetherness is like a fairytale and ending it is ironic; however, it has been reported that their close friends and families might have known it for some time now.
The two actors met back in 1995 on the set of the Australian TV show Correlli and got married in less than a year. Since then, they haven’t looked back, and both have been vocal about their relationship until they made their separation public last Friday.
A Pact Kept Hugh Jackman And Deborra-Lee Furness Glued To Each Other For 27 Years
The couple shares two kids, the 23-year-old Oscar and 18-year-old Ava, and both have claimed that even after the separation they will keep their family always on top priority. However, there was a pact that both the actors made before they had children. Back in 2019, the WHO journal published an extract from The Father Hood: Inspiration for the New Dad Generation, on which Hugh Jackman described the pact for his successful marriage with Deborra-Lee Furness:
“But at those moments, we said we’d ask each other, ‘Is this good or bad for our marriage?’ Or, now that we’ve got kids, ‘Is this good or bad for our family?'” wrote the 54-year-old Australian actor. “And as often as possible, we do the thing that is good for our family,” the Wolverine actor added.
Back in 2019, Hugh Jackman was busy promoting an animated film, The Man, The Music, The Show in which he voice-overed the character of an explorer. While he was on a promotional tour, People interviewed the Australian actor about his secret to a successful marriage to which he said,
People talk about intimacy and assume that means in the bedroom. Of course it is that, but really, intimacy is being able to share everything together—good, bad, fears, successes,” he further added. “Deb and I had that from the beginning. We’ve always been completely ourselves with each other.”
However, all the sacrifices and secrets have now ended, and the star couple has officially moved ahead with the separation. Yet both have handled it well with utmost kind and gratitude, But it will always be something that neither the fans nor the star couple themselves have ever thought of.

Separation after three long decades is going to strain and it even came as a shock to the Les Miserables actor’s fans as well. According to PageSix, the divorce has been a long time coming and friends and family knew about it for too long. The reason has been stated that the wife of the Wolverine actor didn’t come to the rehearsals anymore and even if she came, she used to snooze.
Even though it was a long time coming still it’s something that will take time to get accepted. After the separation was officially confirmed the couple did say to People in a statement that.
We have been blessed to share almost 3 decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage. Our journey now is shifting and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth.” they further added “Our family has been and always will be our highest priority. We undertake this next chapter with gratitude, love, and kindness. We greatly appreciate your understanding in respecting our privacy as our family navigates this transition in all of our lives.“
However, it concludes that the couple will move forward with the fate that has been decided and the divorce took place for the greater good. While they celebrated their 27-year marriage anniversary not long ago, the scenario seems to have changed now.
