Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck, otherwise known as “Bennifer,” have had one of the most publicized and tumultuous relationships in Hollywood history. From their initial meeting on the set of Gigli in 2002, to their recent reunion and remarriage, the world has been captivated by the ups and downs of their relationship. Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck: A Love Story for the Ages
In 2001, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck began filming the movie Gigli. Though Lopez was married to dancer Chris Judd at the time, the two actors quickly became good friends. In July of that year, Lopez filed for divorce from Judd stating irreconcilable differences as their reason for ending their marriage. This prompted rumours of romance among Lopez and Ben Affleck.
Lopez and Affleck went public with their relationship that summer and engagement was confirmed during an interview with Diane Sawyer. Lopez’s third studio album was also released in November, drawing inspiration from her relationship with Affleck.
In March 2003, Affleck said in a Vanity Fair feature that Lopez made him a better person and he was excited to marry her. The couple participated in a joint interview as a couple to promote Gigli, but much of the questions were about their romance.
However, the couple’s wedding, which was supposed to take place in Santa Barbara, was postponed due to excessive media attention in September 2003.

Rekindling the Flame: Bennifer 2.0
After multiple outlets reported the breakup of Ben Affleck and Knives Out star Ana de Armas in January 2021, Affleck spoke highly of his former flame Jennifer Lopez in her May 2021 cover story for InStyle. He praised her work ethic and agelessness, saying,
“I thought I had a good work ethic, but I was completely humbled and blown away by what she was committed to doing day in and day out.”
Around the same time, Lopez and her former fiancé Alex Rodriguez announced their split after four years together. But it wasn’t long before rumors began to swirl of a possible reunion between Lopez and Affleck.
In April, Page Six reported that the two were spending time together at her LA home. An anonymous source told Us Weekly that the couple was full-on dating and very happy together. The rumors were confirmed when the couple returned to the red carpet for the first time since getting back together in September 2021.
On April 8, 2022, Lopez announced her and Affleck’s second engagement via her newsletter On the JLo. She wrote,
“True love exists and forever is real…”.
And on July 17, 2022, Lopez announced that she and Affleck got married in Las Vegas. The couple’s whirlwind romance had come full circle, and Bennifer was officially back.

In a recent interview on the Today show, Jennifer Lopez couldn’t stop gushing about husband Ben Affleck, where she appeared with her costar Josh Duhamel to promote their new romantic comedy Shotgun Wedding. When Duhamel called Affleck a “dreamboat,” Lopez added,
“He’s dreamy. He’s a sweetheart.”
Jennifer Lopez also mentioned her new album This Is Me… Now, a follow up of her 2002 album This Is Me… Then which she made when she was engaged to Affleck. She said
“The last time Ben and I were together, to this album, it’s been such a journey. The thing that I think I’ve been wondering about my whole life is, is love real? Does true love exist? It’s two people kind of coming together and saying, you know, I’m going to be here, no matter what. And we’re going to get through it together.”
Lopez also mentioned that they moved in together and it’s been the best year since her kids were born.
