Halle Berry is like Hollywood’s own pretty princess. A remarkable actress with a charismatic personality, the 56-year-old star has managed to be a part of and contribute to several multi-billionaire franchises. When it comes to describing Berry, most would use the words ‘pretty’ and ‘smart’, but the words that actually best suit her are ‘friendly and real’, judging how the actress never shies away from saying how she truly feels.
That’s exactly what she did on the sets of her movie Boomerang with her co-star Eddie Murphy while shooting an unrehearsed love scene with him. And although it left everyone quite shocked, the end result was hilarious enough to make everyone burst out laughing.
Halle Berry’s Hilarious Encounter With Eddie Murphy During Boomerang (1992)
This dates back to 1991 when Halle Berry and Eddie Murphy collaborated to star together in their rom-com Boomerang. In the movie, there was a love scene between the pair that they didn’t get around to rehearsing for. Talking about the scene, the Oscar-winning actress said,
“We never rehearsed this love scene ever in rehearsal. I don’t know why, but we just didn’t. So I was lying on his chest and I asked the makeup artist before I had to kiss him to bring me a glass of water. So she brought the water over. I took a sip out of it, and before I swallowed it, I looked up at him and I was looking up at an angle. So I could look up his nose, and Eddie has gray hairs growing in his nose, and I started to laugh, and I spit water all in his face and down his shirt.”
And just like that, before she could stop herself, Berry found herself spitting water on Murphy’s face and bursting into laughter at the sight in front of her, which was, apparently, ‘too hilarious’. But after she was done laughing was when Berry realized the seriousness of the situation.
Halle Berry Thought Eddie Murphy Would Walk Off The Set
Controlling her laughter, Halle Berry, along with the rest of the crew, thought that Eddie Murphy was going to walk off the set. Recalling the tense situation on set, the Boomerang actress said,
“After we got done, the whole place, went silent. You know, they didn’t know how Eddie was going to react. I just spit in his face. So he started busting out laughing and he got hysterical and then everybody laughed. But at first, [everyone was like] ‘Is he going to walk off the set?’ But I wasn’t expecting him to have gray hairs up his nose. You know, it was one of those things that I just couldn’t control. That’s the highlight of 1991: ‘I spit in Eddie Murphy’s face.’”
And just like that, while everyone was unsure how he would react, Murphy burst out laughing, clearing out all tension and letting everyone breathe properly once again.
