There are several different and amazing iterations of New York City’s web-slinger, both in live-action as well as animated mediums. But none in the past had an impact on the audience as much as Sony’s Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse had in the modern day. Not only did the film bring the focus away from Peter Parker to Miles Morales, but the unique and visually-stunning animations were also part of its success.
And now, the world waits patiently as Miles gears up for another adventure as the Ultimate Spider-Man in a journey across the Multiverse. But amidst the long wait for the next film, many eagle-eyed fans have found a peculiar sound during the opening credits of the original film, and thankfully, the producer of the franchise is here to tell us all about it.
Christopher Miller Reveals Reason Behind The Coughing In the Opening Of Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse
While Marvel Studios was able to bring three different generations of Spider-Man in Spider-Man: No Way Home in an epic crossover, Sony was also able to take a step closer to creating its own Spider-Verse thanks to the release of Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse. The introduction of Miles Morales, the Ultimate Spider-Man, into the mainstream media proved to be a high-return investment for producers Christopher Miller and Phil Lord.

And with the success of the first film, Sony is back to rumble the Spider-Man Multiverse with their sequel Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse. And while the release date may be close, fans’ impatience is greater, which has made them turn to the previous film to catch some hidden hints and easter eggs that they might’ve previously missed. Thus, when a Twitter user came across a peculiar coughing sound during the opening credits of the film, Miller was more than happy to share an inside tale about its origin.
Miller replied to this tweet, saying that this was nothing connected to the main story, but just him trying to pass on an inside joke that officials from the studio wouldn’t let them do officially. He said:
Thus, this was just a harmless joke that the producers put in so that they could make the creation process exciting and have fun at the same time.
