Eberhardt has worked as a Project Director for Insomniac Games since November 2021, however, is already a well-known element in the games industry. Previously, she worked on streaming technology for PlayStation Now and in the eSports Division of Blizzard Entertainment. The role of project director has been a recent pivot for Eberhardt but a welcome challenge:

“This is actually my first Triple-A game project now. I’m the project director on an unannounced project, so I am very excited to be actually making the games now,”

While Eberhardt can’t confirm exactly what title she is working on at the moment, this hasn’t stopped fan speculation from running wild. From recent job postings dating back to June, many have speculated that Eberhardt may be working on a new multiplayer title for Insomniac Games. Although no details for the project have been revealed to the public Insomniac had listed vacancies for five different jobs, including a Creative Director.

Although the recent partnership with Marvel has led Insomniac to find massive success with Marvel’s Spider-Man and Spider-Man Miles Morales, the studio has also created a number of iconic original IPs. In the late ’90s and early ’00s, Insomniac was the developer behind the Spyro the Dragon series and brought the world of gaming Rachet and Clank.

Eberhardt’s new title could even be a sequel to the much-loved Sunset Overdrive, that while being an Xbox exclusive, the name Sunset Overdrive was successfully registered as a Trademark by Sony at the United States Patent and Trademark Office In 2021. Could this mean a Sony exclusive sequel based on the 2014 action adventure grind em up? Or maybe a new multiplayer title set in the same universe.

The rumours circulating a new AAA game, have also sparked hope that we could see a sequel to the cult classic Resistance series, which hasn’t seen an instalment since 2011. Insomniac’s continues partnership with Sony will most likely keep them on the path as a powerhouse developer for years to come, meaning that any number of these speculated games could become a reality.

In the meantime, while rumours circulate about the unnamed title, the hype train for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is running full steam ahead. If you want to stay up to date with all the latest Insomniac and Spider-Man news be sure to follow @FandomWire on social media!
