James Mangold has repeatedly proven himself as one of the best filmmakers in recent times and even manage to garner multiple Oscar nominations over the last few years. Widely known for concluding the story of Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine in the critically acclaimed Logan. The director is now set to revive the magic of Star Wars on the big screen after the failure of 2019’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
But Mangold’s project isn’t the only Star Wars movie that is currently in the works. However, following his unique approach to the iconic franchise, fans are assured that the director will knock it out of the park with this one.
James Mangold’s Star Wars will reportedly follow the story of the First Jedi
Following the announcement of two other Star Wars films alongside James Mangold’s project. The Ford vs Ferrari director’s project has surrounded itself with immense buzz, especially due to the director’s unique approach towards the property. Mangold’s idea of making a Star Wars origin movie and exploring the story of the First Jedi in a biblical fashion has fans enthralled. He said,
“When I first started talking to [Kathleen Kennedy] about doing one of these pictures, what occurred to me was thinking about what kind of genre of movie within Star Wars I wanted to do. And I thought about a biblical epic, like a Ten Commandments, about the dawning of the Force. Where did the Force come from? When did we discover it? When did we learn how to use it?”
Apart from Mangold’s take on the iconic franchise, fans are also excited to see the other two projects from Dave Filoni and especially Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, which will bring back Daisy Ridley.
Daisy Ridley is set to reprise the role of Rey Skywalker
Four years after the release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Daisy Ridley is set to reprise her role in Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy’s upcoming project. The movie will reportedly take place 15 years after the events of the 2019 movie, which will follow the rebuilding of the Jedi Order led by Daisy Ridley’s Rey Skywalker. Obaid-Chinoy expressed her feelings about earning the opportunity to make a Star Wars movie by saying,
“I have spent the better part of my life meeting real heroes who are overcoming oppressive regimes and battling impossible odds. And I think that is the heart of Star Wars.”
But Star Wars isn’t the only project that Mangold will be directing in the upcoming future. The Indiana Jones 5 director is also set to craft the story of DCU’s upcoming project, Swamp Things, and fans are assured that the director will not fail to deliver.
