Steve Austin is considered to be perhaps one of, if not the most formidable WWE icons. Although the 58-year-old has put his wrestling days behind him, his immaculate build and glory days still happen to be the talk of the town. But even someone as revered as the retired professional wrestler seems to bow down to one of Hollywood’s most sensational action heroes, and rightly so.
The Action Legend That Steve Austin Worships
An unparalleled force and a beloved actor in the film industry with more blockbuster films in his arsenal than one could count, Sylvester Stallone is hailed all over the world, and WWE megastar Steve Austin is no exception. Renowned for his critically acclaimed action outings including the Creed and Rocky films, Stallone, 76, is regarded as the cream of the crop, and Austin completely agrees with Hollywood for putting him on a pedestal.
During his appearance on The JRE podcast, retired professional wrestler Diamond Dallas Page revealed to Joe Rogan how ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin sang Stallone’s praise to the sky during his time on The Expendables. Austin, who joined forces with the Rambo star in the 2010 film, crowned the latter as the true embodiment of an action hero and an absolute force to be reckoned with.
“I guess he’s on the set for about, you know, a couple of weeks by this time, and he says, ‘I’ll tell you what D,’ and you remember, every top alpha dog is in that first movie because he grabbed the heavies of the heavy, the guys with the biggest names – and Austin said, ‘In a world of alpha dogs, there is one No.1 guy, and his name is Sylvester Stallone.'”
Even Rogan and Page couldn’t stop gushing about the legendary actor who continues to be a paragon of action even at the age of 76.
Joe Rogan & DDP on Sylvester Stallone
Rogan, 55, and Page, 67, both look up to Sly Stallone as one of Hollywood’s greatest, baffled at how he’s busy breaking records even in his ’70s. In fact, DDP even admitted that the First Blood star is akin to his idol –
“He’s one of my mentors without me knowing him, you know because I’ve just watched how he’s lived his life and he’s recreated himself so many times and that’s what I’m constantly trying to do.”
Meanwhile, the UFC color commentator and comedian couldn’t contain his bewilderment at just how “jacked” Stallone is even after decades. No wonder Austin is so crazy about the man, because who wouldn’t be?
