“I’m very proud of that show”: Suits Producer Breaks Silence On Bringing Back Meghan Markle For Series Revival As Show Breaks Streaming Records 4 Years After Finale

Suits, the most popular legal drama recently found a new home in Netflix on June 17. It has since been making headlines for its massive viewership.

Gabriel Macht-led series wrapped up with season 9 in 2019. But there are already rumors that the cast may return for a reboot.

TVLine reported that producer Gene Klein could be in conversations to revive the series that Aaron Korsh started twelve years ago. The series had been streaming on Amazon Prime Video so far, but Netflix managed to acquire the viewing rights.

Starting June 26, Suits became the most viewed series for a week till July 2, according to a report from Nielsen Global.

Is Gene Klein Bringing Meghan Markle For Another Season?

The Duchess of Sussex – Meghan Markle said goodbye to the legal drama during the finale of season 7. Due to her departure, the viewership took a decent blow.

Gene Klein, the executive producer opened up to TVLine about keeping the band together for nine long years and the challenges that came with it.

“It was a complicated dance keeping everybody involved. Getting all the actors’ deals done and keeping them involved through the end of the show.”

Upon being asked if Meghan Markle would return as Rachel Zane should a reboot happens, he said –

“I would assume that’s just not possible.”

Meghan Markle, in an Instagram video in 2021 stated that she loved playing Rachel Zane but there are no plans in her schedule to come back for a reunion, much less a reboot.

Suits Blew Past Netflix’s Major Shows To Make Streaming Record

With 3.14 billion minutes, Suits made history in the aforementioned week and Klein suggested to TVLine that he is expecting a call after his conversations with Aaron Korsh.

“It’s just one of those things where, in this day and age, you wouldn’t be surprised if somebody called you someday,” said Klein.

Klein noted that the series garnering such viewership is unprecedented and he hopes that it could push them to start working on another season.

“I was surprised,” said Klein as Suits was binge-watched for a week. “I’m very proud of the show. If everyone just keeps on watching, this is going to go on for a while because they’ll keep on moving through the seasons, and that’s exactly what’s happening.”

Though it would have been fun to see Meghan Markle come back for another outing, there is no official word on if Suits would be renewed or rebooted.

Suits is currently streaming on Netflix till season 8. Season 9 would soon follow.
