Sigourney Weaver Said Adios to Her Iconic Character, Ellen Ripley
The 73-year-old actress, Sigourney Weaver in the upcoming issue of Total Film magazine shared her thoughts on returning to the Alien franchise, which established her as a prominent personality in the industry.

She further continued
“And there was an Alien [film] that I really wanted to do with Neill Blomkamp and we didn’t get to do that, but, you know, that ship has sailed.”
As per reports, Blomkamp was working on an Alien movie, however, it was passed on by the 20th Century Fox. Back in 2020, she confirmed to Empire Magazine about receiving a 50-page treatment for “a different take on a fifth Ripley film” that was sent by franchise producer Walter Hill.
Even then, she had a pass on taking her role forward. The upcoming Total Film issue also featured Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny on the cover, which is also going to mark the end of another iconic character.
Indiana Jones 5 Will Close The Chapter for Harrison Ford’s Indy
Lucasfilm’s anticipated film, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny will see Harrison Ford for the last time portraying his iconic titular character. Initially kicking off his archaeologist role in 1981’s Raiders of the Lost Ark, he kept on reprising his role to cement his character in the film industry.
Playing the iconic character that went through several adventures was “a joyous moment” for him as he told the outlet. Regarding ending his role, he shared,
“I think it’s a rare situation that I find myself in. I’ve been able to deliver amazing films developed by Steven [Spielberg] and George [Lucas] over a 40-year period, and to end it not with a whimper, but a bang, has been my greatest ambition for this excursion.”
The James Mangold-helmed film will premiere at the Cannes Film Festival on May 18 ahead of its US release on June 30, 2023.
