Multiverses make everything possible, even franchises from different worlds have the potential to come together – like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Daredevil! Yes, you read it right: the two franchises’ crossover has been a concept running inside Charlie Cox’s mind.
While this seems like a far-fetched idea for many fans, the actor has been dreaming of working with the four incredible turtles and believes the idea would be “really cool.” Speaking at Fan Expo Dallas, the Daredevil star shared more of his thoughts about the matter.
Daredevil Actor Charlie Cox Wants To Team Up With Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Charlie Cox attended the event with fellow Daredevil: Born Again actor Vincent D’Onofrio and shared his own idea about what storylines he would like to adapt and work on next in the Daredevil franchise. Since he could not reveal answers, he opted to divulge an intriguing one (via CinemaBlend):
“So you can’t really answer that. Can I tell you why? Because every time you answer that question so publicly, it then becomes a news story, and then as soon as it becomes a news story, you can’t do it. So I’m really hesitant to do that. What will never happen, which would be really cool – I can say this – it’d be really cool if the Ninja Turtles showed up in Daredevil.”
Cox was confident with his response knowing the concept will never become a reality, although he thinks it very ingenious and something that fans would love to see. The actor also shared how he found out that the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was actually inspired by Daredevil’s origin story.
“So I didn’t know this until a couple years ago, but apparently, the creators of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were big Daredevil fans of the comic. And so in Daredevil, the toxic spillage that blinded Matt Murdock in his origin story, it then went into the sewers, and it created the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Which is why in Daredevil, we have Stick, and then the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, they have Splinter. And then there’s the Hand and the Foot. Anyway, I like that. I love that stuff. It’s pretty cool.”
Cox’s response was evidently not a spur-of-the-moment idea but a thought that has been lingering in his head for quite some time.
The Boys Of TMNT Have Teamed Up With Other Superheroes
If Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello, and Raphael were able to team up with Bruce Wayne in 2019’s Batman vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, then why can’t Matt Murdock do the same? If Charlie Cox could get his way and make this project happen, Marvel Studios would now be charting new waters.
Meanwhile, fans may have to wait a bit longer as production for Daredevil: Born Again has been delayed due to a writers’ strike. The series is slated for a 2024 release, so it has the rest of the year to hustle and wrap up filming.
In case you need a dose of fun and action, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem will hit theaters on August 2, 2023.
