With people all around the world coming out about their sexuality and demanding their rights as free individuals, it is no surprise how several celebrities too have joined the movement and started stepping into the spotlight about their sexuality with unwavering honesty. And now it is Bella Ramsey’s turn.
Breaking barriers and defying labels, The Last of Us actress Bella Ramsey has fearlessly opened up about their true self. The actor has proudly revealed, without any hesitation, that they’re ‘not completely straight’.
Bella Ramsey Reveals They’re Not Completely Straight
Renowned for their role as Ellie in the movie The Last of Us, the 19-year-old actor Bella Ramsey has recently opened up about their sexuality without hesitating about getting trolled by gender stereotypes.
In an interview on Tuesday, the actor has come out and labeled themselves as ‘not 100% straight’ as they’re ‘ever-evolving’. They further explained how they felt ‘a bit wavy’ about their sexual orientation.
“You never fully know who you are, it’s ever-evolving. But I certainly think that people have gathered that I’m not 100 percent straight. I’m a little bit wavy, you know? That’s what I like to say.”
As courageous as they may seem, the actor openly talked about their sexuality and that they’re still constantly exploring themself for how they truly feel about it all. Furthermore, when asked about dating, they explained,
“I’m 19, so figuring that out’s gonna be a part of my life. Relationships are so complex anyway, and if you’re in the public eye, everyone having an opinion about them adds an extra layer of difficulty.”
Well, according to their response, it does seem unlikely that they’ll be getting into a relationship with anyone soon, but who knows – maybe they’ll prove us wrong about that as easily as they pulled out this one!
Bella Ramsey Came Out as Non-Binary Last Year
This news might seem odd to their new fans, but it wouldn’t come out as much of a surprise to people who read her featured interview in Vogue’s July Pride issue released last year. In that piece, Ramsey claimed themselves as ‘non-binary’.
While the actor did not fear getting trolled about their sexuality, they worried that people might find them revealing their sexuality to be a mere ‘trendy move’. Ramsey also confessed how it took them quite some time to get used to their new pronouns – they/them – before they vocalized about their sexuality. They said,
“But it’s a very succinct way to describe to people who I am. Now I’m able to vocalize it more; being called ‘they’ is the most truthful thing for me.”
Bravely standing up and admitting to their sexual orientation certainly must have been difficult for the actor. However, we admit that this was a courageous move for an actor whose only way is up!
