Hollywood legend Brad Pitt nearly appeared in Christopher Nolan-directed 2010 sci-fi action movie Inception. Pitt ranks among the A-list stars in the film industry and is one of the most in-demand talents. However, like many top-tier actors in showbiz, the Academy Award-winning star has rejected many fascinating roles and films in his storied career, like Leonardo DiCaprio-led Inception.
The movie was a blockbuster affair featuring many successful talents, but for a bombshell reason, Nolan decided to move forward with the project without casting the actor. A talent rep exclusively claimed that the celebrated filmmaker offered the movie script to the actor and insisted on responding within 48 hours. Therefore while he failed to commit to the deadline, the director proceeded with another Hollywood actor.
Brad Pitt Nearly Starred in Christopher Nolan-directed Inception
Brad Pitt reportedly rejected several big-banner films, including Christopher Nolan-directed Inception, and there is an intriguing anecdote behind the casting of Leonardo DiCaprio’s character Dom Cobb in the flick.
According to reports, the director was looking to cast an actor who could play the lead role effectively, so he offered the film script to initially to Pitt. However, due to his demand to respond to him within 48 hours, the director moved on to share the screenplay with another talent, Will Smith, as the actor did not commit to the project.
Brad Pitt Turned down the Role of Dom Cobb in the Movie
Brad Pitt is one of the most highly-paid actors in the world. Pitt has been part of many big-budgeted, thrilling, and fascinating projects, which have earned him bucketloads of cash. The Fight Club movie star has won several prominent accolades and touched many milestones while steadily establishing himself as a leading superstar in showbiz.
He has worked with some of the finest directors in the industry, though it was a complete shocker when the actor failed to respond to award-winning director Christopher Nolan’s Inception movie script. An exclusive talent rep told THR that Nolan asked the legendary star to respond within 48 hours, saying,
“It’s never couched as ‘Hey, I’m more important than you, therefore just say yes. They invent kabuki reasons for why they need an answer, but [the stars] are getting jammed. Stars like Smith and Pitt are used to having people wait a year or more before they commit to a project. They don’t usually have to board a moving train.”
According to the source, Hollywood stalwart Will Smith also failed to acknowledge Nolan’s job, after which the Oppenheimer director eventually gave the part to Leonardo DiCaprio in the film, who delivered a phenomenal performance.
Alongside DiCaprio, the flick has a star-studded ensemble cast featuring Ken Watanabe, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, Tom Hardy, Dileep Rao, Cillian Murphy, Tom Berenger, and Michael Caine. The film received an overwhelming response from critics and fans and grossed $828 million at the global box office.
Inception is available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
