Wearing spandex and playing a superhero seems like the most important thing to add to the portfolio for actors. As Marvel Studios and DC introduce a variety of characters, there is always potential for more talented actors to come on board.
Despite the allure of working in a massive CGI film, there are actors who proudly sit in their own comfortable space knowing they haven’t yet done that.
Emily Blunt (Edge of Tomorrow) and Ryan Gosling (La La Land) are two such actors who haven’t yet found their stride in the long-running franchise films.
Blunt, being a long-time friend of Gosling, admitted to Josh Horowitz in an interview recently that both of them felt proud for not appearing in a Marvel film. But, the Barbie actor revealed to Jake Hamilton last year that he would be up for playing Ghost Rider in the MCU.
Emily Blunt Cussed Ryan Gosling For His Secret
Emily Blunt, who has recently appeared in Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, sat down with Josh Horowitz on his Happy Sad Confused podcast to talk about her films and co-stars, etc.
But, she was surprised when Horowitz told her that Ryan Gosling was actually interested in Ghost Rider after telling her that he had nothing to do with a superhero flick. She actually cussed him.
“Who does he want to play?” – asked Blunt. “Ghost Rider, he’s like a big old geek,” replied Horowitz. “Oh, he’s such a dog!” – she cussed. “I’m gonna really have beef with him about that.”
She further expressed that she thought they both were wearing it as a “badge of honor.” Ryan Gosling would have a lot to answer when he meets her.
Ghost Rider Was The Coolest, Said Ryan Gosling
The Russo Brothers, best known for their work at Marvel Studios directing films like Captain America: Civil War (2016) and Avengers: Infinity War (2018), revamped Ryan Gosling’s action star image with the high-octane flick The Gray Man (2022).
While on a press junket, Ryan Gosling told Jake Hamilton about his intentions for the superhero world.
“You’re one of the few major actors left who hasn’t dipped his toe in the world of Marvel or DC. They had to have come after you,” asked Hamilton.
“I’ve been wanting to do one, but it’s like what one? I always thought that Ghost Rider was the coolest. But, I always thought it was taken,” said Gosling.
It’s actually surprising that both of their spouses have played a part in Marvel before them. Eva Mendes played Roxanne Simpson in 2007’s Ghost Rider opposite Nicolas Cage, while John Krasinski played Fantastic Four’s Reed Richards in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness last year.
Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt will appear in The Fall Guy – set to release on March 1, 2024.
