Harrison Ford is a Hollywood legend that many actors look up to. His vast variety of experience has made him a great actor to act with, especially for actors like Jane Lynch, who starred alongside the star early in her career. Not only was she beyond excited, but she also managed to get key advice from the veteran, that was bound to help her in the future.
Jane Lynch had a brief yet important cameo in the movie The Fugitive, starring actors like Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones. Even though the role was brief and her scene was cut short, her portrayal remained memorable for several reasons.
Jane Lynch Was Excited To Work With Harrison Ford
Harrison Ford is an exceptional actor. The former box office reigning king has been in several major movies and franchises, which makes him an excellent co-star. When Jane Lynch got the call to do a brief scene with Ford, the actress could hardly control her joy.
“I got a call from my agent who said, ‘You have this offer to be in The Fugitive.’ And I was like, ‘What?!’ I knew it was coming through town. This agent couldn’t even get me an audition!”
In an interview with Vulture, via The Things, the actress added on,
“All I know is that I’m jumping up and down because I’m going to be in this movie. Harrison Ford was really nice to me. I was young and there was a scene between the two of us that he wasn’t happy with because of the writing. It was a rainy day. He said, ‘Jane and I are gonna figure this out.’ And he grabbed my arm, and he put an umbrella over both of us. We went to his trailer and worked on the lines together. And then we came back and did the scene.”
And then she got a memorable piece of ‘blunt’ advice that she still remembers and holds dear to her heart.
Harrison Ford’s Blunt Advice To Jane Lynch
Jane Lynch only made $8000 from her short part in the movie. Despite the money, the actress enjoyed working alongside Ford even though it was for a brief scene. Furthermore, it was the Indiana Jones star’s blunt yet vital advice that made her experience more memorable,
The actress revealed in her interview with Vulture (via The Things),
“We were both shocked as we were looking at whatever was in the liver sample. And my mouth was agape and he said, ‘A little acting advice: No matter how smart you are, if your mouth hangs open like that you’re stupid.’ He was being funny but it’s very true. Unless you want to look really shocked or stupid, you can’t drop your jaw like that. I thought it was great, great advice.”
While some might call it a stupid piece of advice, for Lynch it was a very important piece of advice.
The Fugitive can be streamed on HBO Max.
