Collaborating with Sylvester Stallone on Rocky III was a gratifying experience for Mr. T in the 1980s, although he now acknowledges that their relationship has grown distant over time. In the film, they co-starred and took center stage in a blockbuster hit as Rocky Balboa (played by Stallone) and Clubber Lang (portrayed by Mr. T) engaged in two intense yet brief boxing matches.
Stallone held a prominent position as a Hollywood legend for an extended period. His legacy endures, and he even secured a Golden Globe award for his portrayal of Rocky in the 2015 spin-off film Creed. On the other hand, Mr. T, whose real name is Laurence Tureaud, has navigated through the world of television and film over the past four decades. Despite his initial fame, he didn’t manage to fully leverage it as the 1990s rolled in.

Mr. T Shares His Experience Working With Sylvester Stallone
During his prime, Mr. T headlined his own television programs and was a prominent member of The A-Team, which stood as one of the most widely acclaimed series globally. When reflecting on his experience on the set of Rocky III in 1982, Mr. T mentions that he had a positive experience but didn’t have extensive interactions with Stallone during that period.
“He’s just so inspirational,” T told Elie Seckbach. “My mom always said, ‘if you work for a man, be loyal to that man.’ Give him an honest day’s work for an honest day’s pay. So I didn’t come in [to Rocky III] with a big head and all that stuff. I didn’t ask for a limousine or a Ferrari to pick me up, none of that, uh uh [shakes head]. And I said to him, ‘I’m going to work hard for you. I’m not going to let you down. I’m not going to be partying on Sunset [Boulevard] or whatnot.”
However, the friendship between T and Sylvester Stallone has faded over time.
Sylvester Stallone And T Haven’t Been In Touch
It’s been quite a while, Mr. T reflected, indicating that a significant amount of time had passed since their last interaction or meeting. He then mentioned recollecting a social media exchange between them.
“It was last year when I was doing ‘Dancing With The Stars’ [TV show], but he tweeted me a couple of times. But I know he’s busy with Creed [third movie] and all that other stuff. But I’m the type of guy who doesn’t like to get in people’s space. I don’t crowd people.”
Regarding his involvement in the dance show, T. shared that it provided his fans with a chance to witness a different facet of his talents, making it an enjoyable experience. When questioned about his history with professional fighting, Tureaud playfully quipped that his scuffles always took place in the backstreets, implying a lack of formal professional fights. Inducted into the prestigious WWE Hall of Fame, T made his final appearance in the wrestling arena during Wrestlemania XXX in 2014.
