Jennifer Lawrence Pitied Kristen Stewart’s Sudden Rise in Fame and Popularity

Jennifer Lawrence and Kristen Stewart started their careers at a similar time in the 2000s. They are contemporaries who are gifted as performers and have given some wonderful performances and films throughout their careers. While Lawrence maintained a low profile starting out, Stewart became a household name pretty early in her career, starring in the adaptation of Stephenie Meyer’s book series Twilight. The film became her big breakthrough in the industry and it boosted her fame and popularity as an actress.

Lawrence would soon venture into similar territory when she was cast as the lead in the adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ book series Hunger Games. At the time when her first Hunger Games film was about to come out( which would be her breakthrough film), she referenced Stewart’s rise to fame and how that is not necessarily something that she wants. She told Contact Music,

“I look at Kristen Stewart now and I think, ‘I’d never want to be that famous’. I can’t imagine how I’d feel if all of a sudden my life was pandemonium.”

Lawrence’s ambitions and intentions with her career do not seem to include becoming famous or popular. Her focus is to do good work and leave a lasting legacy for herself in Hollywood history through her works. She does not concern herself with the idea of being a celebrity and rather wants to pull all her attention and dedication to her films and doing good work.

Jennifer Lawrence Went Through the Same Situation as Kristen Stewart

After Kristen Stewart‘s career blew up past Twilight, she could not handle the pressure of the fame and widespread recognition she got after the release of her film. Jennifer Lawrence went through a similar situation after the release of the first Hunger Games film. She expressed her struggles with fame and career after the release of The Hunger Games and Silver Linings Playbook to Deadline saying,

“Between Hunger Games coming out and winning the Oscar, I think that I became such kind of a commodity that I felt like every decision was a big, big group decision; because I had no idea what a huge movie star does next or what Katniss Everdeen should do after this… When I reflect now, I think of those following years as just kind of a loss of control and then a reaction to try to get back.”

Lawrence has since stopped appearing in major franchise films and has ventured into many independent and character-driven films. Her recent works such as Causeway and No Hard Feelings show her desire to branch out and challenge herself as an actress. These are the kind of films that she resonates with, rather than big tentpole studio films.
