Followed by his breakthrough in the 2013 crime drama The Fall, Jamie Dornan was cast as Christian Grey in Sam Taylor-Johnson’s 2015 film, Fifty Shades of Grey. He starred alongside Dakota Johnson in a total of three movies. The film series served both of them with worldwide recognition. While it did quite well at the box office, the critics did not seem to have the same opinion about the Fifty Shades trilogy.
However, some also praised Dornan and Johnson for their portrayal of the lead characters. But when it comes to the Fall star’s wife, Amelia Warner does not share the same opinion. The Belfast star shared what his wife thinks about his character and the Fifty Shades trilogy.
What Does Jamie Dornan’s Wife Think of Fifty Shades of Grey
Jamie Dornan’s wife Amelia Warner is reportedly not interested in watching Fifty Shades of Grey, and the reason seems understandable. According to an Entertainment Tonight report, the former actress did not want to see her husband getting intimate with someone else.
After Dornan starred in the film, rumors also started about his marriage being strained due to the intimacy levels he had with his co-star in the film. However, The Tourist star declined such rumors saying that his wife might not want to watch those films, but she still supported him while he worked on the film.
During his interview with Kjersti Flaa, Dornan shared that he has no issues with his wife not wanting to watch Fifty Shades of Grey. He said that he would not be telling his wife anything, and it was her decision to make. “I’d understand if she didn’t want to, and I’d understand if she wants to watch it as well. But I’m not gonna tell her what to do?” Jamie Dornan said.
Jamie Dornan and Amelia Warner started seeing each other in 2010, and after dating for three years, the couple got married in 2013. They have three daughters, Dulcie, Elva, and Alberta, and prefer keeping their personal life out of the limelight.
Jamie Dornan Had One Issue With Fifty Shades Trilogy
During his interview with GQ, Dornan said that he continues to do his best with an urge to prove himself. He shared that he is still “paying penance” for the decision he made, further explaining that he just wants to be appreciated.
“Look, I get it, and to be honest with you, it spurs me on. It lights a fire in me. If that means people saying, ‘Oh, actually he’s not that bad,’ well, so be it.”
He said that he has no regrets about portraying the sadistic billionaire in the film series, But he was not happy with the films being treated as nothing more than a “joke”. He shared that the franchise has “transformed [his] life and [his] family’s life financially,” and he is very grateful for it.
“But I take issue with the whole thing being just a bit of a joke,” Dornan added. He shared he did not like critics describing films as a joke, regardless of their everyone’s hard work for the film.
