Robert Pattinson is a charming actor who has proved that nothing is impossible for him as he has done a phenomenal job in each of his movies. He shot to megastardom for playing Edward Cullen, a vampire in the American romantic fantasy film series Twilight, based on the 2005 novel of the same name by Stephenie Meyer. The film series helped the actor cement his top spot in showbiz. 

However, The Lighthouse movie star once revealed that after he achieved enormous success with this epic Twilight saga series, he began to doubt his acting skills. In 2012, he acted in David Cronenberg-directed film Cosmopolis which earned him critical acclaim, but he admitted that he struggled to prepare for his role in the flick.

Robert Pattinson admitted in his candid interview with Empire magazine that he initially doubted his cinematic skills while filming his 2012 David Cronenberg-directed film Cosmopolis.

Pattinson shared that he was worried about playing his role in the project and began to question his knack, and further claimed that he locked himself in a hotel room to prepare for his part. In the movie, he played the role of Eric Packer, a multi-billionaire Wall Street CEO, and delivered a remarkable performance. The Harry Potter star told the outlet,

“The preparation, I kind of spent two weeks in my hotel room worrying and confusing myself. I remember the weekend before we started shooting, I called David to talk to him about it, to ask him one question like, ‘Want to talk about the movie for a bit?’”

He continued,

“So then I went round to David’s house, and he said, ‘It doesn’t really matter. Let’s just start, then something will happen.’ I think Eric Packer’s impossible to approach like you would a normal character.”

The actor admitted that he lacked confidence before filming his flick, but after he contacted the film director, he felt reassured that he could nail the part.

Robert Pattinson Doubted His Acting Skills Following the Success of Twilight

The actor shared that after working in big-budgeted films, he feared he would have to find more lucrative projects to sustain his status in the entertainment industry. Nevertheless, his thoughts changed after he did Cosmopolis. Pattinson revealed, 

“I was probably most worried on the [third Twilight movie], only having one more movie left. I’d done Water For Elephants, and for some reason, I then felt that I ought to do some huge-budget thing.”

He continued,

“But I did Cosmopolis, and it changed my attitude because I realised it is way cooler to be in Cannes. If I got into Cannes every year, I’d be good on a minimum wage!”

Robert Pattinson revealed he was concerned about his career after gaining a massive fanbase, earning millions of dollars by giving phenomenal performances in each of the Twilight film series sequels. But after starring in the titular film, he changed his perspective.
