“Drinking is a way of numbing your pain – for me it was p****graphy. P****graphy numbed my pain. I’ve never been drunk or high but p*rn was something that took me out. I first discovered it at about nine or ten years old, I was at my uncle’s house and he had a chest full of it. You never find it as an adult. I don’t know anyone who only found p*rn as an adult. You always find it as a child.”

Terry Crews’ narrative takes a chilling twist as he revisits the poignant memory of his first encounter with p****graphy. A tender age of nine or ten saw him stumbling upon a treasure trove of explicit content in his uncle’s abode.

“I didn’t even know what s*x was, but I knew when I opened a magazine, all my problems were gone. It was numb. Every problem would disappear. I had to have it.”

While Terry Crews’ ascent to stardom seemed triumphant, his private battles waged in the shadows continued to fester and grow. Days turned into nights as he found himself entangled in the relentless grip of his addiction, succumbing to a torturous routine that saw him devouring p****graphic content for over 12 hours on end.

“If I got a day off from a set and I could watch p*rn from 10am to 11pm at night. And I wouldn’t stop. I couldn’t stop. It was a splurge. I knew I had a problem, but when you tell yourself that you will stop, you just go right back.”

As Crews’ career flourished, the shadow of his addiction loomed ominously over his marriage to Rebecca King-Crews, whom he wed in 1989. A once-rosy vision of marital bliss began to tarnish as Crews’ reliance on p****graphy threatened to dismantle the very foundation of their union.

Despite Terry Crews’ initial belief that marriage would banish his addiction, it grew like a cancerous vine, intertwining with his identity. In a heart-wrenching twist, Crews disclosed a pivotal incident that ignited a storm of suspicion and deceit within his marriage. In 2000, Crews’ fidelity wavered, leading him astray into the arms of temptation.

“I had [gone]to a massage parlour in Vancouver and cheated on her. And I vowed would never tell a soul. I was so hurt, I couldn’t believe I did that. But it fuelled the want for more and when I crossed that line, I vowed no one would ever know.”

With each passing year, Terry Crews’ web of deception grew denser, a tapestry woven from a thousand threads of dishonesty. Fearing exposure, he resorted to igniting arguments to mask his deceit.

“She was always suspicious. I would start arguments so she would stop talking because one lie turns into two, turns into 100. Over 10 years, you forget which lie you told and the p****graphy never stopped.”

With his marriage hanging in the balance, Terry Crews sought refuge in the healing embrace of therapy, a lifeline that would guide him toward redemption and recovery.
