Lucy Liu portrayed the role of Alex Munday, one of the three Angels. There is a rumor that actress Lucy Liu physically attacked her Charlie’s Angels co-star, Bill Murray after he told her that she can’t act. Obviously, that is the worst thing someone can tell you when you’re a part of this industry. Publicly, no information regarding this incident was shared by the stars of the movie.
The movie received mixed reviews from the audience. On a budget of $93 million, the movie grossed over $267 million at the global box office, making it a commercial success. The audience pointed out that the plot was weak and the movie “lacked originality.”
Bill Murray talked about the feud
Murray and Liu have never talked about their feud, however, Murray once acknowledged it in a 2009 interview with Entertainment Weekly,
“Look, I will dismiss you completely if you are unprofessional and working with me. When our relationship is professional, and you’re not getting that done, forget it.”
It is believed that the behind-the-scenes disagreements resulted in Murray’s departure from the franchise. Bernie Mac subsequently stepped in to fill the role of Bosley, leaving Murray’s character absent from the sequel, Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle (2003).
