After walking hundreds of miles on ramps, models tend to switch over to Hollywood to find even better opportunities. Actors that spearhead glamorous and big-budget films have had roots in modeling which kick-started their careers.
There is an abundance of male actors who were former models, like Ashton Kutcher, Ian Somerhalder, and Josh Duhamel who have ruled television and cinema.
But, Step Up (2006) star Channing Tatum leveled the playground and showed us what it actually means to be a true model. Not only has he made the ladies swoon all over him with his chiseled physique, but he’s also had several other playful techniques up his sleeves. Wait, what sleeves?
G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra (2009), White House Down (2013), and 22 Jump Street (2014) skyrocketed Tatum’s acting career. But 2012’s Magic Mike gave us all a taste of the actor’s early days of modeling.
Channing Tatum’s Weird Encounter In Miami Led Him Into Modeling
The 43-year-old actor has had a history of loving his cheesecake physique. Even before he started his career as a model, Channing Tatum told Vanity Fair back in 2013 that he spent his days as a stripper to earn his daily bread.
He explained that he met an absolutely creepy guy who tried to compel him into modeling.
“He was creepy, trying to make out, and I was like, ‘All right man,’ but it piqued my interest.”
He further added that he didn’t waste a lot of time after that and went straight to New York where he met Jason Kanner who signed him up for a fashion agency Major Model.
His stripper days were followed by walking runways and print shoots for brands like Abercrombie & Fitch and Sean John.
Vanity Fair’s Lie Detector Had Channing Tatum Strapped
Strapping people to their chairs while he worked as a stripper must have been a fun journey for him, until his most recent appearance this year on Vanity Fair where was strapped for a lie detector test.
Channing Tatum, upon being asked if he thought he could have won America’s next top model, candidly responded –
“No, No, I don’t think so.” – Turned out to be a lie.
“Really? Hmm, I wasn’t a great model. Guys are different. You just get hired to be nak*d when you’re a guy model.”
After eight years, Channing Tatum returned to complete the franchise with Steven Soderbergh at the helm in Magic Mike’s Last Dance. The film was released back on February 10, this year.
