Kirsten Dunst Was Nervous About A Scene In Marie Antoinette

Marie-Antoinette directed by Sofia Coppola saw Kirsten Dunst in the historical drama, which followed Queen Marie Antoinette over the years before falling to her fate in the midst of the French Revolution. Dunst, who played the titular character, received praise for her powerful performance despite the film’s disappointing performance at the box office. Marie Antoinette was also the first film in which the Spider-Man actor did an intimate scene that required her to be n*de. Speaking of the challenges that she faced while filming the shot, Dunst confessed,

“I was so nervous to show my butt in that tent scene because it was the first n**e scene of any type I’d ever done. In the scene where Jamie and I are making out and he slides me down the bed, I did one take where I showed my b*****s and one without. Sofia didn’t end up using that take, but at the time I figured if I was gonna go for it, it should be in her movie.”

The star felt that she needed the time to step away and reassess her goals regarding her career and life. Speaking of the pressures of cinema and the possibility of giving her children the same experience, Dunst was firm in her reply and said,

“I’d never put any daughter of mine through acting because, while I loved acting and was happy working as a child, looking back, my happiness always came from pleasing other people – always. It came from satisfying the director or my mum or my acting coach, not from pleasing myself.”
