Pedro Pascal auditioned for Marcel in The Vampire Diaries

Nina Dobrev and Paul Wesley‘s show The Vampire Diaries was among the most popular shows on telly screens for almost a decade. The show aired for eight seasons with 171 episodes from 2009 to 2017. The Originals was a spin-off of The Vampire Diaries, and it followed the life of vampire-werewolf hybrid Klaus Mikaelson as he and his family try to survive in New Orleans.

Charles Michael Davis had joined TVD as Originals vampire Marcel Gerard. As per the reports by Entertainment Weekly, the actor had stiff competition with another talented actor for the role. Show creator Julie Plec recalled,

“One of the other people who read opposite Charles for that part was Pedro Pascal, who I loved. I was obsessed with him, but he was just on the older side.”

However, the role was given to Charles Michael Davis due to Davis’ swag. Plec explained in the interview that Marcel needed an attitude to operate and breathe in the same space as Klaus.
