Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter in April this year, she spoke on how her native accent didn’t help her in landing the MCU role until filmmaker, James Gunn came to her rescue.

She recalled,

“I was kind of doing a generic villain thing.”

Marvel was not impressed by her performance when Gunn gave her a note suggesting drawing inspiration from Clint Eastwood and Marilyn Monroe.

“Do Marilyn Monroe/Clint Eastwood.”

It was a complete success with the studio taking her in for the role. Given the bold her character is, she almost got into trouble for capturing the filming of her recent MCU film.

“I’ve decided to make this vlog, because I essentially snuck my iPad onto the set of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 and decided to film all of this behind-the-scenes footage, and I totally got in trouble for doing it.”

She asserted that she has not been exposed to much BTS Marvel stuff but she did get close to how they make their films.

“I took my camera from first thing in the morning, until the last thing at night, over multiple days, of filming.”

It would definitely have been a thrilling experience for her since we all are aware of the strict policy Marvel follows to keep their content confidential. As for Gunn’s last MCU film, it was a critical and commercial success, grossing over $842 million worldwide.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on August 1, 2023.
