Matt LeBlanc almost ended his career while filming for FRIENDS
A lot of A-listers have sustained injuries in their career over the years for their roles but most of these incidents happen when filming for an action movie. Matt LeBlanc also suffered a similar injury while filming for the iconic sitcom, FRIENDS.
In the episode, “The One Where No One is Ready” of season 3 of the series, Matt LeBlanc’s character Joey and his roommate, Chandler portrayed by Matthew Perry on the series were fighting to sit in the same chair. Once while on an episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, LeBlanc revealed more details about the incident and said,
“So we both race to the chair, and I have to step over the coffee table and land on this big, huge comfortable chair. I ended up completely upside down. I was going to land on my head between the table and the chair, so I put my arm up to break my fall and exploded my shoulder.”
The actor further talked about how the filming for the episode of the show was stopped after that incident and he had to wear a sling around his arm for the next few episodes so the writers made it an injury for his character Joey as well.
The Man with a Plan actor talks about how he was in a dark phase after the end of FRIENDS
It can get tough sometimes to say goodbye to farewell to a character after playing it for very long even for A-listers. Matt LeBlanc once talked about how he was in a dark phase after he bid farewell to the character of Joey after playing it for over a decade after the end of FRIENDS‘ spinoff series, Joey. He said,
“For years and years, I barely left the house. I was burnt out. I wanted to not have a schedule, not be somewhere. I was in a position to do that. My agent was bummed. Most actors call their agents and say, ‘What’s going on?’. I’d call mine and say, ‘Please lose my number for a few years’. It was a very dark time. I almost had a nervous breakdown.”
Although he faced a dark period after the end of Joey, Matt LeBlanc managed to pull himself back from the low phase of his life and went on to have a successful career even after the end of FRIENDS.
Matt LeBlanc went on to win a Globe Award and also received four Primetime Emmy Award nominations for his portrayal of a fictionalized version of himself in the sitcom series, Episodes.
