Jim Carrey’s Awkward Interview At New York Fashion Week
Famously known for his hilarious performance in The Mask, Jim Carrey appeared on the red carpet event celebrating Icons by Carine Roitfeld, during New York Fashion Week Friday, nearly five years back. Walking down the red carpet, the actor was pulled aside by Catt Sadler of E! News, for an interview.
Strangely enough, although the actor is known for his bizarre behavior, his interview got super awkward, as he got existential while walking the red carpet. Initially beginning by circling Catt Sadler, who tried hard to get some normal responses from him, Carrey gave a brief James Brown impression, mid-interview.
Giving eccentric replies all in a two-minute interview, Jim Carrey questioned the meaning of Fashion Week, the entertainment industry, and human existence. Questioning the goal of the party, the actor began offering his perspective on the event.
Jim Carrey Called The Red Carpet Event Totally Meaningless
Calling the red carpet event celebrating Icons, as the most meaningless thing of all time, Jim Carrey mentioned why he was at the party. “I’m doing just fine. I just you know, there’s no meaning to any of this, so I wanted to find the most meaningless thing that I could come to and join, and here I am.” Carrey shared.
Keeping her cool, Catt Sadler attempted to pivot to something more traditional, however, Carrey wasn’t willing to give up on his point. “I mean, you gotta admit it’s pretty meaningless,” the actor shared. That’s when Sadler claimed the event is meant to celebrate icons, to which Carrey stated, “I don’t believe in personalities. I don’t believe that you exist. But there’s a wonderful fragrance in the air.”
Bringing out philosophical replies, the actor made the interviewer grow visibly uncomfortable. However, despite Carrey’s awkward interview, fans hailed the actor in the comments. “The man climbed upto the highest level of Hollywood to find out it’s all nothing but a joke! You have my respect” one user commented. Others stated, “He’s highly intelligent and speaks in hyperbole and allegory and most people aren’t quick witted enough to fully appreciate him”.
Thus, no matter what he says Jim Carrey remains the absolute favorite Hollywood actor with negligible haters.
