Unlike many A-listers in showbiz, Colin Farrell has managed to keep his personal life out of the limelight for the most part in recent years, which isn’t an easy task for major celebrities. But the 2000s did witness some interesting development in the actor’s love life, including his marriage (not legal) with Amelia Warner, which lasted for about 4 months.
But among all the big names the actor dated during the 2000s, his romantic friendship with the late British Icon made headlines back in the 2010s, when he was still in a relationship with Alicja Bachleda-Curuś.
Colin Farrell wanted to tie the knot with the late British icon
Apart from being a nice dad, Colin Farrell almost engaged in his first legal marriage with British Icon Elizabeth Taylor, who was almost forty-four years older than The Batman star at the time. The Irish star came across the Cleopatra star back when his second son was being born in Cedars Hospital in Los Angeles, where Taylor was undergoing a heart procedure. And their friendship kickstarted after Farrell decided to send flowers to her, only to find she already sent an orchid to the actor.
The following years saw the two become closer than ever, and Farrell expressed his desire to tie the knot with the actress and become her eighth partner. Unfortunately, not long after the duo bonded, she sadly passed away at the age of 78. Reflecting on her romantic friendship with the actress, the actor did clarify his relationship with Elizabeth Taylor was never consummated, but he did want to marry the British actress.
Colin Farrell’s bond with Elizabeth Taylor was his last romantic relationship
Further reflecting on his close bond with the British icon, Colin Farrell, who parted ways with Alicja Bachleda-Curuś back in 2010, claimed his friendship with Taylor was the last romantic relationship he had. He said,
“This went on for ‘a year and a half or two years of what was a really cool … it feels like in my head — not her, I’m projecting — the last romantic relationship I had… I wanted to be [husband] number eight … but we ran out of road.”
As of now, the actor has kept his personal life away from the media’s eyes and enjoys being a father of two. Farrell’s career also keeps on upsurging to the top, as he is now set to lead his own Max Show, Penguin, which will expand Matt Reeves’ The Batman universe.
