The entertainment business isn’t the easiest one to be in. While men and women working in film and fashion industries tend to go through certain derogatory situations, especially if they are aspiring artists, women are mostly the ones suffering the darkest of acts initiated by powerful people.
Harvey Weinstein, the co-founder of Miramax producing company, has been one of those powerful people whose name first appeared in harassment and misconduct cases in 2015.
The 71-year-old former producer now serves a combined 39-year sentence behind bars. His exploitations of women over the years have set the stage for more women to come out.
Dawn Dunning was one of the women who added to Weinstein’s already mounting troubles back in January 2020. Multiple media outlets reported that she testified during the trial that he baited her by quoting Salma Hayek (Eternals) and Charlize Theron (Hancock).
Harvey Weinstein Lured Dawn Dunning Into His Apartment
According to Dunning, Harvey Weinstein sweet-talked her into his suite in Manhattan. During his 2020 prosecution, as per Insider’s timeline, Dawn Dunning also appeared at the trial and stood in the witness box.
“I was wearing a skirt that day and he put his hand up my skirt. There were no red flags or alerts that would make me expect it to happen,” said Dunning.
She also told the court that Harvey Weinstein had been using that Manhattan suite as his office and he took her to a bedroom.
This incident occurred in 2004, as Dunning recalled. But her ordeal didn’t stop. He insisted on meeting her again after that, and he had an ominous proposal for her.
Harvey Weinstein Persuaded Dawn Dunning For Threesome
Harvey Weinstein, as Dawn Dunning told during the trial (via Independent), mentioned famous and highly respected Charlize Theron and Salma Hayek to fulfill his desires.
Weinstein had intended to perform a threesome with Dunning and his assistant.
“When he said that I laughed. I thought he was kidding. He got really angry; he started screaming, ‘You’ll never make it in this business. This is how the industry works.’”
Dunning, on further questioning by prosecutor Meghan Hast, said that she wasn’t gaining anything out of her testimony. She had lost her career due to Harvey Weinstein’s deeds.
