Steven Spielberg has created many masterpieces in his career and Jurassic Park is one of them. The sci-fi adventure movie was released on the big screen on 9 June 1993. Laura Dern played the character of Ellie Sattler, Jeff Goldblum portrayed the character of Ian Malcolm, and Sam Neill played the role of Alan Grant.
In the movie, the star cast has to go through a lot of chaos while saving themselves from the dinosaurs. But, during the filming as well the cast and crew came across a dangerous situation because of a deadly storm.
The cast and crew of Jurassic Park had to face Hurricane Iniki in Hawaii
As Steven Spielberg was looking for an amazing place where he could shoot his sci-fi adventure movie, the director thought Hawaii would be the best place for the filming. Jurassic Park was shot in Hawaii and the cast and crew almost had a near-death experience while filming the movie. Hurricane Iniki which was one of the most powerful hurricanes to strike in Hawaii startled all the people present on set.
Actors Sam Neill and Laura Dern were standing on the beach when Iniki was making its way towards them. As Dern saw the hurricane, she asked Neill if they would be okay and the 75-year-old actor replied, “I think we might die, Laura.”To avoid the disastrous storm, the star cast and crew escaped to the hotel’s basement with other guests. Fortunately, no issues occurred as a result of the storm, and filming continued once the storm passed.
Steven Spielberg once said his sequels aren’t as great as the original movie he makes
During an interview, the 76-year-old filmmaker opened up about why the sequels of his movie fail to impress the audiences. Spielberg took responsibility for The Lost World: Jurassic Park on his own. While talking about his sequels and his craft the director said,
“My sequels aren’t as good as my originals because I go onto every sequel I’ve made and I’m too confident. This movie made a ka-zillion dollars, which justifies the sequel, so I come in like it’s going to be a slam dunk and I wind up making an inferior movie to the one before. I’m talking about The Lost World’ and ‘Jurassic Park.”
In the eyes of the world, The Lost World: Jurassic Park didn’t succeed in bringing excitement to the fans. People had huge expectations but people stated that the first Jurassic Park was the winner in any case. The adventure movie was released on 19 May 1997. The second sequel to Jurassic Park made $618.6 million at the box office. The movie series is still one of the most renowned film series in Hollywood.
