Brewster specifically criticized She-Hulk: Attorney at Law for its “bad” and “cartoony” depiction of Daredevil. Even though Brewster had nothing to do with the character’s revival by Marvel Studios, he voiced his displeasure with the choices that have been made for the character.

“I think that, now that the MCU has taken over the character, I think they are really, really hurting it. If you watch She-Hulk, they turned Daredevil into a cartoon. It’s all animated and it looks bad.”

Action sequences in She-Hulk were a highlight of the Disney+ show, but he thinks they’ve lost some of their heft and visceral quality due to the heavy reliance on CGI. Brewster is disappointed with Marvel’s treatment of Daredevil.

Fans have been divided over the differences in aesthetics between Daredevil on Netflix and She-Hulk in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Netflix show’s dark and realistic take on the character, with its frequent scenes of violence, made it a fan favorite.

Daredevil returns, but Marvel Studios takes a different tack by giving him the comedic treatment as seen in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. Fans were hoping for more of the same gritty, violent storytelling that hooked them to the Netflix series, so this change in tone has been met with some discontent.

Despite widespread backlash, some have defended Marvel Studios’ handling of Daredevil’s cameo in She-Hulk. The actress who plays Titania on the show, Jameela Jamil, weighed in on the discussion, arguing that the legal comedy’s treatment of Daredevil deserved praise.

Given the time between Daredevil Season 3 and She-Hulk, this is in keeping with the more seasoned Daredevil depicted in the MCU. While She-Hulk’s comedic tone may have put some viewers off, it appears Daredevil will get his chance to shine in projects that align with the mood of his Netflix show.

According to reports, the upcoming series Daredevil: Born Again may feature a darker and more mature tone than the original. The new project is expected to deliver the same strong storytelling, writing, and action that made Daredevil one of the best comic book TV shows ever. However, it may not reach the same level of explicit content as the Netflix series.
