Welsh actress Catherine Zeta-Jones is among the most talented names in the Hollywood industry and has won numerous accolades including an Academy Award. The actress revealed in an interview about getting a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to play the iconic character of James Bond. Catherine Zeta-Jones shared that she still regrets not getting the chance to play the female Bond character.
She shared that the former James Bond actor Sean Connery has backed her as his replacement for the biggest spy franchise. Sean Connery played the role of James Bond in seven films across 21 years. He is the only actor to play the 007 role for two decades. Connery had worked with Zeta-Jones in the 1999 film Entrapment and was quite impressed by her work.
As per Ace Showbiz, Catherine Zeta-Jones told The Sun,
“I would have loved to have played Bond. I had such a wonderful relationship with Sean Connery—we did a movie called Entrapment years ago – and he was like my elder brother, my dad, my support.”
“I really loved him. I am a Bond fanatic, and he said to me once, ‘You would have made a great Bond, girl’. I asked, ‘A Bond girl or Bond?’ He went, ‘Bond – girl.’ I said, ‘Oh my gosh, I would have loved to have played Bond!’ But I think that time has passed.”
There have been numerous talks over the years for a female Bond. The franchise producer, Barbara Broccoli, has stated the role will be played by a man.

Catherine Zeta-Jones plays the role of Morticia Addams in Netflix’s famous show Wednesday. It is a television series based on the titular character of Wednesday Addams, played by Jenna Ortega. The show is created by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar. The supporting cast comprises Gwendoline Christie, Riki Lindhome, Jamie McShane, Hunter Doohan, Percy Hynes White, Emma Myers, Joy Sunday, Georgie Farmer, Naomi J. Ogawa, Christina Ricci, and Moosa Mostafa.
Speaking about the show, Catherine Zeta-Jones said,
“It was a real treat because it’s an iconic show, and characters like Fester and Morticia are indelible, they’re in our subconscious.”
She added,
“You throw in the brilliant mind of Tim Burton and a fantastic casting, and I’m just thrilled it’s going so well.”
Four out of eight episodes of the show are directed by Tim Burton.
The first season of Wednesday aired in 2022 on Netflix and was renewed for season two.
