Charlie Cox’s Daredevil Stuntman Gives Heartbreaking Update on Series Reboot, Hints Another She-Hulk Disaster Incoming

Marvel’s upcoming television series, Daredevil: Born Again, has created a lot of hype among the fans. Created by Matt Corman and Chris Ord, the series is all set to air on Disney+ in Spring 2024. Fans will once again get to see Charlie Cox playing the role of Daredevil, roughly 5 years after he wrapped up his run in Netflix’s Daredevil.

The upcoming show is expected to be very different from the Netflix version, however, it seems like the changes may have gone too far. Charlie Cox’s student double from Netflix’s Daredevil recently criticized Marvel’s approach for the upcoming show.

Daredevil: Born Again’s hype is at an all-time high, however, actor Charlie Cox‘s stunt double from Netflix’s Daredevil, Chris Brewster, thinks Marvel is making a big mistake. Brewster recently appeared on the Ikuzo Unscripted podcast and said,

“They really, truly don’t want it to be anything like the Marvel Netflix Daredevil. So, nobody that worked on the original series, other than the cast that they’re bringing back, is coming back. And I mean, there were just some truly, truly wonderful that worked on that show and I think they really added to the magic of that show. And I think Marvel’s making a big mistake, but what you gonna do?”

The stuntman believes that Marvel’s attempt to make it something very different from Netflix’s Daredevil may backfire. Leaving out a lot of people who worked on the show is a big mistake according to him.

Chris Brewster was then asked if he thinks anything can be done now. The stuntman explained that it’s too late to make any sort of changes now,

“Well, it’s probably too late to change it now. Marvel has told every person working on that show that they don’t want Born Again to look anything like the Netflix Daredevil series. Trust me, not only did I work on the show, I was one of the biggest fans of the show.”

Daredevil: Born Again will release on Disney+ in Spring 2024. It will be a part of Phase Five of the MCU and a second season is also planned. In hindsight, it may seem like it’s unfair to leave the cast behind, however, it makes sense. Marvel needs to cater to everyone and a change in the tone of the character might be exactly what needs to be done.

Chris Brewster thinks Netflix’s Daredevil was a masterpiece

The stuntman made it clear that he was a huge fan of Netflix’s Daredevil and praised everyone who worked on the show,

“I think that the Marvel Netflix Daredevil was a masterpiece. I think that the casting was perfect, I think that every showrunner, every person that worked on the show was genius. It was an incredible experience and, I mean, in my opinion, and what most people agree on, it was Marvel’s best streaming show ever… I think that Charlie and Vincent crushed it as their characters. I think that every person that worked on the show absolutely nailed it.”

Many people will agree with Brewster as the show indeed had the ability to keep the audiences on the edge of their seats. The show aired on Netflix in April 2015 and ended after 3 years.
