It’s indeed hard to believe that the era of the iconic character Luke Skywalker has come to an end. Previously, Mark Hamill shared during an interview that he wasn’t looking forward to playing his iconic character anymore.
When the actor was asked about his appearance in the upcoming Star Wars projects, he blatantly said that he had no hopes for that. The actor last appeared in 2019 in Star Wars: Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker. While recalling his experience filming Luke, the actor got emotional. The actor said,
“Well, the whole thing was emotional, because when I read [Episode] VIII, I knew it was over. So I was relishing every moment, but also saying goodbye to all those people that I had associated with over the years. So I still miss them.”
A few months later, the actor announced his readiness to leave the franchise. The actor claimed that he doesn’t see any particular reason to reprise his role, as according to him, the makers of Star Wars already have a lot in store, and amidst this, the story of Luke becomes insignificant somewhere.
What’s in store for the Star Wars movie?
Fans got to witness the last Star Wars films three years ago, and since then, there have been hardly any updates from the franchises about their upcoming projects. However, as recently announced, fans can expect a spin-off with Daisy Ridley reprising her role as Rey Skywalker.
However, according to sources, fans may soon get to see more content from Star Wars. A new live-action series, Ahsoka, will be released on Disney+ in August 2023, which will serve as a spin-off of Star Wars Rebels and The Mandalorian. After portraying the character in The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett, actress Rosario Dawson will also be returning to her role.
