Sylvester Stallone’s innermost circle includes two individuals who have time and again faced challenging battles involving their hearts. On one hand, his once arch-nemesis and now dear friend Arnold Schwarzenegger, and on the other hand, his beloved eldest daughter Sophia Stallone, both have had to navigate their way through heart complications from the very beginning of their lives.
While Stallone’s daughter’s struggle began when she was mere two months of age, The Terminator actor entered the world with a heart condition known as aortic stenosis. These strange parallels compelled many people to wonder about the hardships Stallone himself might have gone through to deal with all the tough times.
Sylvester Stallone’s Daughter Sophia Stallone Has Had Many Heart Surgeries
Hollywood A-lister Sylvester Stallone‘s eldest daughter Sophia Stallone has had a hole in her heart ever since she was little. In a July episode of The Family Stallone show, as reported by HollywoodLife, the daughter spoke out about her experience of dealing with all the chaos in preparation for an annual heart check-up. She has had three surgeries in total up until this date. First when she was 2 months, old, and then again when she was 16, and finally in the year 2022. All of them were scary experiences, to say the least, but the one she could not shake off easily was her surgery when she was a teen. As she stated,
“The moment I found out I needed an operation was one of the most pivotal experiences of my entire life because I never had to consider death before.”
During those trying times, she further revealed, that Sylvester Stallone was too baffled and “didn’t know how to deal with it”. The star himself further recalled one of the most agonizing moments of his life, with tears welling up in his eye, was being asked to bid his little daughter farewell, as she was taken in for surgery at just two months old. And thus, could only sum up his experience by stating,
“That would be… devastating is too gentle of a word.”
It was indeed devastating, to say the least, but the silver lining shines brightly as Sophia Stallone is now healthier than ever!
Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Complications With His Heart
But that was not all, Sylvester Stallone’s dear friend Arnold Schwarzenegger, also has been suffering from a heart condition for quite some time now. Till now, the actor also has had three heart valve surgeries. In 1997, the actor underwent an important surgery where he chose a tissue valve instead of a mechanical valve replacement to ensure there were no restrictions to his daily extremely rigorous physical activities.
The actor then again had to have a second surgery in 2018, a natural follow-up operation done to replace the worn-out parts.
In an Instagram post, the actor further let the world know that he also had a third surgery in 2020, stating,
“Thanks to the team at Cleveland Clinic, I have a new aortic valve to go along with my new pulmonary valve from my last surgery. I feel fantastic and have already been walking the streets of Cleveland enjoying your amazing statues. Thank you to every doc and nurse on my team.”
Now although two of the closest people of Sylvester Stallone had to go through some pretty tough times, the actor is grateful that they are enjoying such robust health finally.
