Tom Holland’s Antics To Appear Tall Like the Avengers Cast Ended Up Backfiring While Filming Infinity War

Tom Holland is one of the most loved actors. He swung into our hearts as Spider-Man and no doubt Marvel fans couldn’t get enough of him. Holland has now become a Hollywood hotshot, and let’s be honest, who wouldn’t want him in their movie or TV show?

The actor is known for his funny personality and warm attitude. But there’s always that one thing people can’t help but discuss — his height. They say he’s about 5 feet, 8 inches tall, while his girlfriend Zendaya? Well, she’s towering above at a solid 5 feet, 10 inches. But wait, when you’re swinging from buildings like Spider-Man, does height really matter?

Tom Holland Admits to Feeling Self-Conscious About His Height

In The Graham Norton Show, Tom Holland was a guest with Girl on a Train star Emily Blunt and her husband and The Office star John Krasinski. Plus, pop star and actress Kylie Minogue, who performed her catchy single Stop Me from Falling from her album Golden, was also there with them.

During the show, Krasinski talked about how he tried for Captain America. He felt pretty confident about the role until the mighty Thor himself, Chris Hemsworth, walked by, and suddenly, his confidence took a nosedive. Then Holland also said that he’s not the tallest guy compared to some of his co-stars (via Daily Motion):

“Imagine how I feel. These are tall blokes, they’re tall, and I’m not that tall.

The star stood up and continued saying:

“I remember doing a scene on a planet and there’s all these little dips and rocks and stuff and I just said to myself in rehearsal “just find a rock. Just find a nice rock and you’ll be fine.” First rehearsal I hop up on the rock and I’m working with Chris Pratt, you know Chris he’s huge, I was like chin height and I’m happy here. They’re setting up the lights and stuff, I’m hanging out, and I end up in a hole. I said to myself “just make sure you’re not here when they— ACTION.” And everything explodes to life. I literally stood in this little hole, already smaller than all these people, and I was waist height. I spent three days like this. [looks up] It was awful.”

It seems like even superheroes can feel a little starstruck, but the best part is Holland discussed his insecurity in public (that too in a funny way), which is so endearing.

Is Tom Holland Really That Insecure About His Height?

It’s quite surprising to know that someone as successful as Tom Holland has his share of insecurities. Chatting with GQ about his flaws, the actor explained one of his biggest faults, which is — being “an impossible people pleaser.” He doesn’t like the idea of “people not liking” him. Holland revealed that this led to an obsession with his height and body. He said:

“I’d do this thing on red carpets where I would stand closer to the photographers than the people behind me [to look taller].”

Speaking about his film Uncharted with Mark Wahlberg, the actor said:

“I saw him walk onto set in his costume and I was like, ‘F***, he is twice my size.”

He added that he has now learned to focus on what he can actually control — “I cannot do anything about my height. I can put on more muscle.”

Tom Holland has found a way to shift his focus away from things he can’t change (his height) and instead started concentrating on areas where he can make a difference — like building his physique.
