The new visual effects played a massive part in turning back time for Ford and making him look the age when he first played the role of Jones in 1981.
In the trailer of Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny, there was a scene where a bag is removed from Ford’s head, and it reveals the young Indy. The de-aging of Harrison Ford was done by VFX technology.
The film’s team shared that a younger version was created using artificial intelligence, for which they had to go through all of the decades-old footage that the Lucasfilm studio had of Indiana Jones.

While a majority of fans are excited to see the younger version of the star in his upcoming film, some are not happy with the CGI effect. Blade Runner 2049 fame shared with Entertainment Weekly,
“I know that that is my face. It’s not a kind of Photoshop magic – that’s what I looked like 35 years ago. Because Lucasfilm has every frame of film that we’ve made together over all of these years.”
“This process, this scientific mining of this library, this was put to good [use]… It’s just a trick unless it’s supported by a story, and it sticks out like a sore thumb if it’s not honest, it’s not real… I mean, emotionally real. And so I think it was used very skillfully.”
Ford also shared with Empire that seeing his de-aged look was a little spooky. He added,
“This is the first time I’ve seen it where I believe it… I don’t think I even want to know how it works, but it works. It doesn’t make me want to be young, though. I’m glad to have earned my age.”
Disney production’s Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny will be in theaters on June 30, 2023.
