Dave Bautista Talks About His Acting Career
Raised in a multicultural, poverty-stricken family, Dave Bautista left home at the young age of 17 and did a series of jobs before turning his attention to professional bodybuilding. After debuting as an actor in the 2006 comedy film Relative Strangers. Bautista got highlighted as he signed up for the role of Drax the Destroyer in the Marvel Cinematic Universe film Guardians of the Galaxy and has been giving good performances so far.
On being compared to Dwayne Johnson owing to their similar beginnings, Dave Bautista went on to differ stating that he wants to be a good actor, an actor who is respected and that he doesn’t want to be another Dwayne Johnson as he wants an identity of his own. Bautista said, “I never wanted to be the next Rock. I just want to be a good f**king actor. A respected actor.”
Speaking about his love for acting, the actor said he is obsessed with acting and keeps trying to figure out the puzzle. Bautista also believes he goes with his instincts rather than deciding on what is right or wrong when it comes to acting out a scene.
Bautista said,“I’m obsessed with it. It’s this puzzle that I can’t figure out. You don’t know if it’s right, but sometimes it feels right. I don’t get those moments a lot, but every once in a while I do. And f**k, to me, there’s nothing like it. It’s a natural high. It’s an addiction.”
Bautista says he has no interest in the glamorous life of a Hollywood celebrity as he tries to avoid the spotlight as much as he can. Instead, he’s more focused on perfecting his craft and earning respect from his peers.
What’s Next for Dave Bautista
Dave Bautista has been cast as Drax the Destroyer in the MCU superhero film Guardians of the Galaxy. Directed by James Gunn, the movie turned out to be a massive critical and commercial success. This movie made a name for Bautista as he then went on to act in a few more good movies with his recent work in Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery.
However, Bautista has confirmed that he won’t be returning as Drax the Destroyer after the third volume of Guardians of the Galaxy as he bid goodbye to his famous role. Dave Bautista will be starring in two major feature films coming out this year. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is premiering on May 5 2023 while Knock at the Cabin, a horror/thriller film, will be released on February 3, 2023.
