“I’m trying to figure out… Because, specifically in the last four years, my output has been Marvel.”

The actress further clarified that she appreciates Marvel’s contribution to her current popularity, yet this doesn’t change the fact that playing one role for several years has raised questions about her versatility. Therefore, in pursuit of showcasing her range as an actress, she wants to explore various genres. She added,

“I so much want to do films right now, and I hope some of them come together in the way I envision. But yeah, that’s something I need. I just need other characters in my life. There’s no longevity in one character.”

“I just want more of that in my life because I find satisfaction in variety.”

Olsen also mentioned two roles that are close to her heart, saying,

“‘Wind River’ and ‘Ingrid Goes West’ were films I was very proud to have chosen, and they were so different that you can’t compare them.”

Wind River is a 2017 neo-Western crime film written and directed by Taylor Sheridan, while Ingrid Goes West is a comedy-drama film directed by Matt Spicer.

Previously, during an interview, when Elizabeth Olsen was asked if she missed playing the role of Scarlet Witch, she bluntly denied it, saying,

“No, I don’t. I think it’s been almost 10 years of playing her.”

Playing a character for a decade is indeed a significant accomplishment, and Olsen’s contribution to the Marvel Universe is commendable. The actress first appeared as the character Wanda Maximoff, a.k.a. Scarlet Witch, in the 2015 film Avengers: Age of Ultron, and 2022’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness marked the end of her character.

However, the actress has stated that she is proud to have been a part of the MCU. Olsen said,

“If someone were to tell me that I’m fired from Marvel movies, I would feel proud of what we made.”

Nevertheless, she is now focusing more on securing roles in different genres, so she is not exclusively associated with Marvel.
