Everything Everywhere All At Once is one of the best sci-fi movies of recent years, the film was flawless in every aspect and the acting of the star-studded cast was remarkable, and because of these characteristics, the film has earned 11 Academy Award nominations.
Stephanie Hsu was one of the actresses in the movie, who charmed the audience with her performance and is nominated as the Best Supporting Actress, and during an interview, she expressed her desire for a spin-off film from the Everything Everywhere All At Once universe.
What Kind of Spin-off film does Stephanie Hsu Want?
During the exclusive interview with Variety, Stephanie Hsu was asked if she would like a spin-off film from Everything Everywhere All At Once, to which she stated that she would like a spin-off film of the Rocks, a silent movie like how Charlie Chaplin used to make back in the days.
“I want the rocks. I just want a silent movie. Sometimes I’m like, “What if I got to do a silent movie where I play Charlie Chaplin or something?” That’s where my brain goes.”
For people who haven’t watched the film, the rocks scene is a silent scene in the movie where two rocks could be seen with text as their dialogues, the rocks are supposed to be Michelle Yeoh and Stephanie Hsu’s characters in the scene.
How does Stephanie Hsu Feel About her Oscar Nomination
In the same interview, Stephanie Hsu was asked about how she felt about being nominated to the Academy Awards, and the actress commented that it was one of the few feelings that people experience in life.
“It feels surreal for many reasons, but I’ve been reflecting on how few people ever experience what I’m going through — as humans and actors. If I get to live to be 95, and I’m retired in a bingo hall, they will announce me as “Tonight’s winner for bingo is onetime Academy Award nominee Stephanie.””
The actress played two characters in the movie, that is, Joy, the real-world version of Evelyn’s daughter, the role required a dramatic and emotional performance from her, and the other was the role of the multiverse antagonist, Jobu Tupaki, an evil version of Joy.
The movie was hilarious and cartoonish with a sci-fi plot, but the cast has to nail their roles so that the film connected with the audience. Hsu’s role in the movie was praise-worthy and her villainous role was outstanding and a contrasting visual representation of what she portrays as Joy.
Everything Everywhere All At Once can be streamed on Netflix.
