“I just think it’s me shouting”: Michael Fassbender Hated His Role In $746 Million Movie After He Kept Asking To Do One Scene Again

Michael Fassbender Hated His Role In $746 Million Movie After He Kept Asking To Do One Scene Again

Besides being a fabulous actor with remarkable works on the big screen, Michael Fassbender is also the holder of a tremendous personality in real life. With a talent like his, the Irish-German star has starred in some of the best projects from Hollywood of all time, with his Magneto role in the X-Men movie saga being one of the best performances to date.

But while that role of his is one of the biggest fan favorites, Fassbender isn’t really a big fan of the role, revealing even how much he hates his role in the $746 million movie, X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014).

The $746 million X-Men movie, which is also one of the best-rated from the franchise, X-Men: Days of Future Past stars Michael Fassbender as Magento, a powerful mutant who can manipulate magnetic fields and force anything made of metal to move through the air. But while fans highly loved his character, the Assassin’s Creed star isn’t of the same view.

In the movie, there is a scene where Fassbender, wearing a silly yet functional helmet that prevents his mutant former best friend and psychic Charles Xavier from reading his mind or taking control of it over a burgundy cape, yells and gestures aggressively to make an entire stadium float through the air.

Watching this scene two years after the movie’s release at the TIFF Soirée, the Toronto Film Festival’s pre-opening-night fundraising event, the X-Men star cringed and rubbed his face in embarrassment before stating,

“I don’t actually like that performance there, to be honest. I just think it’s me shouting. It’s just like —  [makes an angry face and flails his arms] some dude shouting.”

But turns out it’s too late now to make that revelation!

Michael Fassbender Resonated With This One Movie More Personally Than Others

While his X-Men: Days of Future Past role made him cringe, Michael Fassbender’s Hunger (2023) holds more personal resonance for him.

“I was just so … hungry!” he said, “in more ways than one.”

In fact, he even lost weight by himself within the 10 weeks that he took off from production to make himself look like a starved person. Not only this, but he also pushed several boundaries to give his extra best for the movie. Recalling his experience, he said,

“It was a very solitary and profound experience. I really wanted to do this for a living, and I got this opportunity to play a lead role in a film, and I really wanted to make sure that I grabbed that opportunity with both hands.”

Regardless, Michael Fassbender has given the best performance in every single movie that he has starred in to date, even more so with his most hated role, considering how much fans love him in the character and want no one else to play Erik Lehnsherr but him.

You can watch X-Men: Days of Future Past on Amazon Instant Video and Hunger on Netflix.
