Oscar-winning actor and musician, Jamie Foxx, 55, took to Instagram during the early hours of Saturday, July 22, 2023, to address his fans and well-wishers, months after the news of his suffering from a mystery health emergency surfaced in April. In the video shared, Foxx appeared healthy and well, as he expressed his heartfelt gratitude to those who sent prayers and messages during his recovery.

In the video, Foxx opened up about the challenging ordeals he faced through his health scare, confessing that he was “not sure if [he] would survive.”

Jamie Foxx shares an update on his health

Jamie Foxx was hospitalized in April 2023 due to a medical complication. The specific condition has not been disclosed, but Foxx has said that he suffered a “cardiac event.” A statement released by the Foxx’s daughter Corinne read,

“We wanted to share that my father, Jamie Foxx, experienced a medical complication yesterday. Luckily, due to quick action and great care, he is already on his way to recovery. We know how beloved he is and appreciate your prayers. The family asks for privacy during this time.”

In the video, Foxx shared, “I went through hell. I was in the hospital for four days. I had a cardiac event. I didn’t know if I was going to make it.”  Moreover, he said that he was initially reluctant to talk about his health scare, but he decided to share his story in the hope that it would inspire others who are going through similar experiences.

He further revealed that he is now “doing great” and is “back to 100 percent.” He was filming the upcoming movie Back in Action alongside Cameron Diaz when he suffered from the sudden medical complication.

Jamie Foxx on why he did not want his fans to know anything about his health scare

In his latest Instagram video, the Django Unchained actor finally opened up on how his condition scared him and why exactly he didn’t want anyone to know anything about it. Explaining how he wanted to shield his fans, Foxx said,

“I cannot even begin to tell how far it took me and it got me back. I went through something that I… thought I would never ever go through. And I know a lot of people were waiting and wanted to hear any updates, but to be honest with you, I just didn’t want you to see me like that, man.”

He further added that he wanted people to remember him for his laughter, joy, and vibrant spirit rather than seeing him with medical tubes and devices. He expressed immense appreciation for the support and love he received from fans and credited his eldest daughter, Corinne Foxx, and his sister Deidra Dixon, for playing a crucial role in saving his life and keeping his health condition private.

Foxx’s health scare has been a sobering reminder of the importance of taking care of one’s health. And now, the actor is urging others to make their health a priority.
